Trucks around the world travel great distances and their drivers spend long hours on the road. V2X both improves safety and reduces costs for trucks hauling loads and traversing our roads.
Using V2V for truck to truck communication, trucks can drive together in a convoy. This scheme, widely known as platooning, has many benefits. For one, trucks can follow a lead truck and allow the driver to rest. Another key benefit is that platooning means that trucks form an aerodynamic formation which saves up to 12% in fuel consumption.
Furthermore, V2X allows trucks to communicate with other trucks, cars, motorcycles and the infrastructure for enhanced road safety.
