Companies to Deliver Comprehensive Solutions for Participants in USDOT Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployments in New York City, Tampa and Wyoming
SANTA CLARA, Calif., and KFAR NETTER, Israel April 26, 2016, Savari Inc. and Autotalks Ltd., leaders in V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication technology, announced that the companies are partnering to provide a full suite of V2X communication solutions for U.S. smart cities like New York City and Tampa, Florida and other smart transportation projects like the efficient and safe movement of freight through the I-80 east-west corridor in Wyoming. All three pilot sites are participating in the CV Pilot Deployment Program initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The companies are collaborating to deliver high performance and secure V2X solutions to market that are ready for smart city deployment.
The joint solutions, which leverage a fully-integrated software stack and applications from Savari and VLSI solutions from Autotalks, will enable the three Wave 1 participant cities in the CV Pilot Deployment Program to access a wide range of proven, field-tested V2X communication technologies.
Savari delivers a complete suite of V2X safety communications technologies that enable connected vehicles to interact with other vehicles, road side infrastructure, smartphones and pedestrians. With more than 391 thousand hours of public testing of its on-board units (OBU), covering more than 14.9 million miles traveled, Savari is a proven V2X communications technology provider. Savari is also an active participant in major public U.S. smart city testbeds, with over 90 percent of currently installed road-side-units, covering 130 public square miles.
Autotalks provides OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers with comprehensive V2X chipsets that deliver advanced security features, ensuring high-performance and reliable communication between vehicles and road side infrastructure. Autotalks field-proven chipset is deployed worldwide in multiple pilots. Autotalks’ enhanced Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ESCDA) security features ensure tamper-resistant storage and hardened- V2X communications features that protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized access to critical connect systems within the vehicle.
To address the needs of communities experiencing rapidly growing demands on their transportation infrastructure in the next few decades, the USDOT launched its Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program. The CV Pilots aim at testing and deploying connected vehicle technologies in physical, real-world environments. The three sites collectively envision a broad spectrum of applications enabled by connected vehicle technologies driven by site-specific needs. The CV Pilots are designed to address transportation and mobility challenges by examining how connected technologies like those provided by Savari and Autotalks can better connect transportation assets into an interactive network.
